A crack in the sidewalk
I broke my heart
Along a crack in the sidewalk
And watched the blood dry red
In that crack in the sidewalk
And picked at the scab
Of the crack in the sidewalk
And I watched it bleed again
Because what was blood but red liquid
Like water, like tears, like rain
In my veins, that funny little liquid
My heart thumping along
That funny little liquid
The odd pair that was
The crack and the liquid
My life spreading around
That odd little pairing
Because my heart (the figurative one)
The two halves, were buried there
Under the crack and the blood
A queer little threesome
And my tears fell from above
More liquid, more liquid
And I watched it rain
On my face, on my face
And the sky, it mocked
My whole little life
A queer little threesome
Laced with the tracks of my tears
Because I had broken my heart
I had rained tear drops
Bled that queer little liquid
That held my life in its watery grasp
I broke, I cried, I bled
Along a crack in the sidewalk.
